It gives you the practical skills and ethical understanding that is required prior to being assessed for the qualification, as required by legislation.
Overview
Safe use of Pesticide: (PA6INJ). This course is suitable for those needing the legislative qualification for using hand held pesticide injection equipment . It is based around the National Proficiency Test and is designed to help people to successfully prepare for their tests. Note that this course includes as standard some of the content required for PA1. The course lasts for one day, with attendance required to sit the test on another day following the course.
So what is involved?
- Legal requirements relating to applying pesticides using injection equipment.
- How to inject pesticides safely following industry best practice. Identify and minimising risks to the environment.
- Interpreting product information from labels.
- Identify and selection of equipment according to application requirements.
- Carrying out pre use checks to the applicator.
- Calibration of the applicator and calculating quantities required.
- Measuring the pesticide mix with water and filling the applicator and /or attaching the pesticide container.
- Demonstrate safe and accurate injection procedures. Carrying out all activities protecting human health and the environment.
- Completion of a treatment record.
- How to manage surplus pesticide and disposal of waste material.
- Cleaning and storage of injection equipment.
Entry Requirements
Candidates must pass their PA1 assessment prior to completing testing for PA6INJ
Certification/Award on Completion
NPTC Level 2 Award in Safe Use of Pesticides - Module (PA6INJ) Hand Held Pesticide Injection Equipment.

Appropriate PPE, passport photograph, notebook and pen.
