So what makes this course special?
It gives you the practical skills and ethical understanding that is required prior to being assessed to be able to progress to all other appropriate qualifications. Delivered by a well established trainer in this field.


This qualification is for the pruning of trees using pole mounted, long reach pruning equipment, which may include: extendable pruning saws, powered pole pruners, loppers. The trees will be cut by removing branches using cuts that are finished to the current standard for pruning in treework. This unit is not about using hedge trimmers. Your work must conform to all current legislation and codes of practice.

This standard is for those people who use powered pole pruners.

Unit 205.  Use a Powered Pole Pruner
By the end of the course you should be able to:
1) Identify, inspect and comment on key parts of the powered pole pruners
2) Prepare the powered pole pruner for work safely without risk to themselves, other people or the environment
3) Carry out daily and routine maintenance on the powered pole pruner
4) Operate the powered pole pruner safely and effectively and comfortably in accordance with the practical risk assessment
5) Operate the powered pole pruner safely without risk to themselves, other people and the environment
6) State the identified knowledge that underpins the understanding of operating a powered pole pruner
7) Identify the risk assessment and emergency procedures on a work site

Candidates must successfully achieve all assessment activities in the above unit.

Entry Requirements
Please remember that a prerequisite for this training is CS30

Candidates are expected to bring their own PPE :- hard hat with visor and ear protectors. gloves are needed but they can be work gloves and not necessarily chainsaw protective.

Certification / Award on successful completion
NPTC Assessments take place on a separate day, depending on assessor availability and candidate ability.
